Every year, the American Kennel Club (A.K.C.) releases a list of the most popular dog breeds. Here we would discuss the top 10 dog breeds of 2009. In the first place was the Labrador Retriever, which wasn't a big surprise for many as this family dog has secured the first position for nineteen years straight. Moving up from the third spot after many years, the German Shepherd Dog occupied the second position in 2009. Still beloved amongst the fans, the Yorkshire Terrier came in third and the Golden Retriever had secured the fourth spot for the second consecutive time. The adorable Beagle and the stunning Boxer secured the fifth and sixth position respectively. The increasingly popular Bulldog was in the seventh spot this year after making its debut in the top 10 dog breeds ranking in 2007. Moving down a spot, the Dachshund came at number eight. The dog breed which has a rich history, the poodle, held the ninth position while the adorable Shih Tzu was at number ten. You can view the entire list at the American Kennel Club website as well.
