What You Should Know About Caring For Your Pet

What You Should Know About Caring For Your Pet

Caring for any is a lot of hardwork. You have to be financially and emotionally capable of caring for a pet before getting one.

Here are a few things you should take note of about taking care of a pet:

1. Brush pet's teeth regularly. It's important that your pet has good dental hygiene. There are several harmful bacteria that live in the gums of your pet's mouth. If you skip your pet's regular dental cleaning, harmful bacteria can enter their bloodstream and lead to infection. Your pet can also suffer problems like bladder infections and rotten teeth.

2. Get your pets ready to visit the vet. Going to the vet can be a stressful experience for dogs and cats. But you can definitely make it a little bit easier for everyone. Exercise them before going to the vet. Schedule a few social visits and treats until your pet is comfortable enough for the actual checkup.

3. Lilies are not good for cats. Any kind of lily plant is poisonous to cats. Even a small amount can send them into acute kidney failure and only about 50 percent survive with aggressive treatment.

4. There's no standard vaccination for pets. Vets no longer prescribe vaccinating yearly with all possible vaccines. The types and number of vaccines for your pet depends on its lifestyle and life stage. Puppies and kittens need vaccines to help 'set' the immunity. Older pets need boosters. You and your vet will have to sit down together and talk to determine just what vaccines your pet needs to get.

5. Call your vet. It's free to call the vet. Make sure you get in touch with them as soon as you notice anything out of the ordinary.

Fascinating story of toy dogs

Small or miniature dog breeds have colorful story of their own. Toy dog breeds are an unrelated, much loved, assortment with nothing more in common than their small size and characteristic role as companions and show dogs. Many are miniature versions of dog type breeds belonging to other groups. They have become lap dogs and small house pets while full sized cousins carry on with the original work of hunting, guarding or herding.
The breeding of miniatures is a long established European tradition. The Flemish painter Jan Van Eyck (1390-1441) immortalized an early Belgian variety of the Affenpinscher in his portrait of wealthy domestic life. Arnolfini and his wife Albrech Diirer (1471-1528) engraved the German variety. The King Charles Spaniel gets its name from appearing in a painting of Charles by Vandyke (1599-1641) and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is associated with Charles II. Spaniels are not the only members of the Gundog group to be miniaturized.
